SXC round 1

From Kirroughtree SXC 2009

[St Andrews uni, Chris Bell looking a little too happy mid expert race]

For a couple of reasons i found my self unable to race at the first race of the season so i went down with Mike and Neil from the ABC to feed and do bottles/tale photos (click the photo above)

There were certainly plenty people in attendance , most notably a large womens field.

Course looked and sounded good with plenty of singletrack to create some questionable passing maneuvers !

Paul Oldham(hope) looked to be ripping up the Expert/Elite with over a mins gap by the first time he passed us about 5 mins from finish. Paul Smith{SWC} was trying his hardest to close the gap. Lots of new faces in category but as expected new face in expert Dave Henderson was showing them what he was made of and when i left wasnt going to be far off a podium.

Looking forward to round 2 where i should be able to race

roll on round 2 when i can race !

SXC laggan 2008

was going to wait for the results to pop up but there not coming any time soon apparently

First short course XC race for me.

undertook the relitively new task of doing "bottles" for the others in the team as they were in the 11am start and my race was at 2,

managed to get a good grid position despite not being seeded. Race started , with a bit more gusto than im used to. Nothing uncontrolable , decided id let them razz off and go at my "quick but not hurting pace" by the time i came round to the second lap the climb was easy and i could give it more gas. I need to be more assertive in my passing techniques , im too used to at the 10s just sitting behind people till they decide to let me past. other than that it was a good fun race.

at the moment i believe i finished 5th , as i Euan Thorburn won , someone from pedalpower second , Chris Bell third , another pedal power 4th and me in 5th.
