speed ...my own worst enemy

Finished a fairly respectable 25th outa 150 riders/16th in my catagory

not overly happy with my result i know i was capible of better , but the powers that be decided i wasnt going to win

i spent the first 30k of the race in the top 5 taking my turn up front , turns out the first 10 or so riders passed the half way point well ahead of the expected time and so the waterbutts werent in place

resulting in the big man above hitting my with his hammer and saying STOP ....

no fluid from about 25k lead to huge cramps in my legs climbing ships cone

not too pissed off didnt come last and it was good training ! there were more climbs and they were steeper and rougher than anything ive ever ridden in the uk , the 100km at selkirk is a piece of piss in comparison i swear to god !

We are in queens town now , been on the bungy jump off a bridge was fucking awesome ! will post the video when i get back to my own pc !

Greetings from new zealand

sat here at 6pm in the invercargil tuatana lodge hostel in the internet cafe in 20degree heat ! its great weather , we are staying with some great people , debbie and matt who have been so welcoming and sorted out loads for us to do

to day met up with the guys from sport southland and got a shot on an indoor velodrome , boy those things are steep !

had dinner with matt and debbie and dave and nicci (the couple who came to 10 under the ben) which was good putting faces to names.

been out to riverton and rode the local trails at sandy point , things dont seem as technical orientated over here , even from the riders at the local shop things seem alot more tame than the trails im used to but i dont care the weather is better and the people are really friendly

im rocking a giant trance 1 with the softest forks in the world but still i dont care !

jaynes on an avanti agressor , with her first decent suspension forks , some vanila RLCS compared to the mxcomps shes used to shes happy . although they gave her a mens saddle ...we sorted that this morning

the flights over were hell , loads of sitting about , i think i watched nearly every good movie on the entertainment system , i couldnt sleep , got 3 hours sleep in the best hotel ive ever been in in dubai , with the nicest breakfast of fresh fruit pancakes , croissonts and other things like that first time ive ever had a three course breakfast !

having a great time guys you really need to get out here at some point ! race is tomorrow , will update when i can with results , but i have to go to tea with the guys from sport southland and meet up with richard pascoe who ive still not met yet !

1 week to go ......flight out to new zealand courtesy of no fuss events and the 10under series is at 1pm next monday

just ordered my travellers cheques and will be packing over the course of the week !

It feels like theres a rave in my head and your all invited

went out for a cheeky ride after uni last night ...

left in high spirits from arbroath at 5.20pm , got to forfar , had a chip buttie and made my way to mikes house for the 7pm ride

rode out , felt good , powering up a climb and a stick got stuck in my mech and broke the tab that stops the mech rotating , busted XTR mech but still ridable ... bit further on another stick jams the mech into the spokes ! , toys , dummy , blanket et all thrown right out the pram.... got it going , finished ride , riding on thin ice, rode home , 25k and got within 1k of home and the mech completely demolished its self as per photos ! resulting in a walk for the last K got home at 11.45pm

Ride totalled 84.4k at an ave of 18.6kph half on road and half off road, ave HR was 143bpm and max was 198bpm

New XTR shadow ordered to replace it ! and my new met veleno arrived today much comfier than my old absalon replica , gone for plain white this time as my girlfriend spots me in races by red top/white helmet best not confuse her now

bloody colds

After the turbo trainer effort last wednesday i found my self on saturday suffering the "pre" effects of a cold ...

so far this week ive really backed off the training a cold now would be very detrimental to the new zealand effort...and ive put alot of training into it

so far this week after a 400k week last week ive done about 30 kms on a pre organised uni trip to laggan ... i did a 6km run to try and sweat the head cold out ...but all i did was move it into my chest but its gone in less than 3 days

back to training tomorrow , shame the ride starts 15-20k from my house and my car is still turnips on toast ! so ride 20k to the start....ride the 30 or 40 k ride...then ride 20k or so home at 10.30pm !

im a number again !

Apparently Terry Davidson actually means 434873 as far as the BC are concerned .... last used in 2003 for racing the SDA & NPS downhill races .... now to be used for xc ...

oh well 50 quid shelled out best make sure i use it to its potential !

3000 trouble free miles

then i look down at my bike ....and see the bb wobbling and rough , the brakes not working to great , the seat post is no longer 27.2 along its entire length from being moved up n down , the sprokets both look like ninja death stars and my cranks look like rejects from the skip and my saddle rails are bent beyond belief

so if any one would like to donate the following to the terry singlespeed race bike regeneration project it would be nice ;)

for now i shall mostly be riding my fixie singlespeed (id hate to see that bill if id done the same 3000miles on my geared bike)

the car is also broken . electrical fault AGAIN so im forced to ride to uni ...30kms each way ...its not a bad ride when you can pick and choose when to do it ..but 5 days a week !!

anyone selling a mondeo or primera with the 1.8 or 2 litre TD engine ?
